The Heiau is amazing. A large rectangle made up of a stone wall marks the sacred ground. There are lots of rocks wrapped in leaves on the wall, or near it as well. This place is so serene and so beautiful. I have visited this location many times and there are never a lot of people are there. There is a path behind the Heiau to the right that leads to a spectacular view, however, this could be very dangerous for children because there are no railings keeping a person from falling down the cliff. Very cool place!
Must stop and see! Really awesome place to stop in and move your legs for 20-30 mins during your drive around the North Shore. Learn about Hawaiian culture and enjoy the amazing views of Waimea Valley.
The grounds are being kept up, but it is pretty much natural. The history and ruins are cool, and the view is amazing. Worth checking out if you are looking for historic or viewpoints.
